Historical Background

Way back in 1971, Bob Garon established the DARE Foundation, the first Therapeutic Community in the Philippines and in Asia. DARE grew to 7 homes and 450 residents.

In 1977, Bob Garon left DARE and went into business, but he continued over the years to counsel parents and drug dependents referring them to various centers.

In August 1999, Bob and his wife Emmy (the first Filipina to direct a drug rehab center) having already achieved financial independence and seeing the rapid spread of the drug problem, decided to return to the field of drug rehab.

They had the skills, the desire, a beautiful and ideal 5-hectare ranch and the resources to begin. All that remained was to assemble and train staff which they did.

In August 17, 1999, a permit to operate was issued by the Dangerous Drugs Board of the Philippines and in May 04, 2001, the NAZARETH FORMATION HOUSE, A Bob Garon Therapeutic Community Center was accredited as a Residential Drug Rehabilitation Center. On December 14, 2004, a certificate of Accreditation of Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center was granted by the Department of Health.
