The
Spiritual Program
Spirituality is at the core of the Nazareth Program. God represents all that is good and He plays a central role in the recovery of our residents.
As wounded persons, they have wandered far from God and have rejected His precepts in favor of their self-destructive lifestyles. But behind that godless façade there is sadness and emptiness, darkness and a loss of meaning.
At Nazareth, we believe that recovery is difficult, if not impossible, without recognizing the power of God in the process.
One resident put it this way: “Here at Nazareth, God finds us in different ways: in nature, the people, daily mass, confession and the support of the community. Slowly as time goes by, we begin to experience Him and start to hope for a new tomorrow. And when there is hope, recovery is possible.”
We pray often at Nazareth because we believe that a solid program needs to be backed up by the power of God in action. As the residents become closer to God and all that He stands for, they are drawn away from their former lifestyles and find new meaning in leading a straight and God-fearing life.
